Masjid Ali


A series of projects have been undertaken for Masjid Ali Trust which have converted 2 existing former factory premises into a contemporary mosque and medrassa with a new build link/entrance area between the two. The schemes have provided for an appropriate, spiritual prayer hall with associated ablution facilities, and a 2 storey medrassa building. This busy community religious facility has been successfully incorporated into a busy employment zone at Smith Dorrien Road in the heart of Leicester City.

Project on behalf of: Masjid Ali Trust.
Project summary: Series of regeneration projects to provide a single storey prayer hall, ancillary facilities and a two storey medrassa with car parking.
Value: £765k.
Challenges faced: Issues relating to traffic and creating a religious facility in a busy employment zone.
Outcome achieved: Prayer hall within a former factory with an appropriate sense of space.
