Contract Signed for New Care Facility in Kibworth
Leicester based KPW Architects, one of the East Midlands leading architectural
practices, has signed a contract to design a new care facility in Kibworth,
Leicestershire on behalf of Self Unlimited.
Self Unlimited, formerly CARE, is a national charity that provides a range of
services for people with learning difficulties across eight regional hubs.
Currently the charity has a number of tenants living semi-independently in
Kibworth and has asked KPW to design a new house.
In partnership with LHA-ASRA Group, KPW will provide a two-storey
house on Weir Road in the South Leicestershire village with five en-suite
bedrooms, two flats, patio area, garden and parking. The scheme will achieve
Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 as it will feature timber frames, super
insulation and roof mounted solar panels.
Tim Clark, director, KPW said: "It is a great privilege for KPW to be awarded
the Weir Road project. As part of our commitment to corporate social
responsibility, we endeavour to work alongside charitable foundations as much
as possible so we are extremely pleased to be able to offer a much-needed
solution for all at Self Unlimited."
Vivian Smith, Regional Manager, Self Unlimited added: "We are very excited
about the new house, the house the tenants are currently living in is not really
big enough and the new premises will give our Service users much more space
and enable them to continue living in Kibworth."
The scheme is currently in for planning and, pending approval, work is scheduled
to commence in late Summer.
