KPW Architects Submit Affordable Housing Scheme for Nottingham City Homes
KPW Architects, one of the East Midlands leading architectural practices, have recently submitted two affordable housing sites in Nottingham for planning approval to Nottingham City Council, on behalf of Nottingham City Homes.
The twenty three bungalows and houses proposed access the two sites at Lillington Road, Bulwell and Camrose Close, Bilborough are a collaboration between Nottingham City Homes, Lovell Partnerships and KPW Architects, and represent the first new properties funded, managed and let by Nottingham City Homes/Homes and Communities Agency for nearly 15 years.
The City Council was recently awarded £1.2 million of HCA funding, and the Council is also putting forward £1.1 million to the schemes.
The sites provide a mixture of family housing and two bedroom bungalows, with one larger family house on each site for families with special needs. The project will also create jobs for local people, and on-site, hands-on training for at least 20 young apprentices.
Tim Clark, Director of KPW Architects said "Our Continuing excellent close working relationship with contractor, Lovell Partnerships has meant that Nottingham City Homes vision for delivering 23 new affordable homes can be realised to exceptional design and construction standards, achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, and yet be affordable and deliverable within tight timescales."
The two schemes have been designed in close collaboration with Nottingham City Homes and the Local Authority Planning, Urban Design and Highways Departments and works are due to commence on site in April 2010.
