KPW Architects Submits New Quantum Consortium Scheme for Derwent Living
Leicester based KPW Architects, one of the East Midlands most diverse architectural practices has submitted for planning approval a further scheme under the Quantum Consortium Framework Agreement.
Continuing their successful partnership with Derwent Living, the proposed residential development at Coppive Road/Rolleston Drive, Arnold, Nottinghamshire consists of eight apartments and twelve houses for social affordable rent, along with communal car parking and private gardens.
On the site of a former Local Authority residential bedsit building, the scheme has been designed to provide an architectural statement and focus for this prominent corner site, with a modern solution for the apartments, and a more traditional design for the houses. KPW Architects have collaborated closely with Derwent Living and Gedling Borough Council's Planning, Urban Design and Highways Teams to create an aesthetically pleasing, yet functional design solution for this important site, which is due for planning determination at the end of March 2010.
KPW Architects have entered into a novated contract agreement with Derwent Living, and following the current tender process and planning approval, works on the £1.5 million project are anticipated to commence in May 2010.
Tim Clark, Director at KPW Architects, said "We are absolutely delighted to be continuing our excellent working relationship with Derwent Living in delivering another site of apartments and houses for affordable rent in the Nottinghamshire area. Our previous similar sized scheme at Bulwell Lane, Basford has proved to be very popular not only for the residents, but also in terms of the excellence of the design aesthetic which was negotiated with Nottingham City Planners."
Under the umbrella of the HCA (Homes and Communities Agency) this project is a continuation of the Quantum Consortium's strategic allocation of £34 million of government money, developing over 1,000 affordable homes at sites in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire, and demonstrates KPW Architects' commitment to providing positive working relationships with their RSL partners, based on quality of outputs, generation of opportunities and, above all, value for money.
